Consultants are an integral part of the Luther team, leading on delivery activity for clients and supporting a wide variety of corporate, marketing and new business initiatives. They work closely with people across the business, particularly the Senior Consultants and Associate Directors.

Person specification

  • Minimum of 1- 2 years’ experience in a consultancy, public affairs, political/policy or media environment.
  • A strong grasp of the UK news agenda and media environment including broadcast, print and online, as well as social media channels.
  • Understanding of the UK political system and processes, including devolved administrations, and the current policy landscape.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills and the ability to tailor approach and content for different audiences.
  • Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills, demonstrating punctuality, preparation, and the ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively.
  • Ability to speak confidently to present ideas to colleagues, clients and prospects.
  • Confident using technology including AI and media and political monitoring systems.
  • Networking skills, and the confidence and ability to take part in new business pitches.
  • Initiative and self-motivation.
  • Flexibility to adapt as the company’s needs evolve.
  • Proactivity and passionate about the work.
  • Collaborative approach to working as part of a team.
  • Willingness to take responsibility and strive for high quality at all times.

Role requirements and responsibilities

  • Helping develop and implement corporate communications, PR, public affairs and thought leadership strategies and campaigns.
  • Supporting reputation management and crisis communications projects.
  • Building strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and service providers, including managing expectations and dealing appropriately with difficult situations.
  • Drafting a wide range of materials including press releases, media statements, articles, blogs, policy briefings, reports, letters, social media posts, infographics, and video scripts.
  • Liaising with journalists, producers, MPs, Peers, advisors, and researchers and other target audiences to deliver client campaigns.
  • Advising on the effective use of different social media channels.
  • Helping organise events, including liaising with venues and suppliers, managing attendee lists, and drafting speech notes and invitations.
  • Providing strategic advice.
  • Running internal and external meetings or sections of meetings as required.
  • Using quantitative and qualitative research methods to gather data and analysing the findings to identify relevant trends and interesting stories.
  • Building a strong network of contacts relevant to the business.
  • Collaborating on new business proposals and pitches.
  • Contributing to company-wide initiatives including marketing and corporate events.
